Dear friend of Women Wage Peace,

On Day Six of the current conflict, WWP stood as we always stand – together. This time we held a silent rally with partners gathered at the Old City’s Jaffa Gate.

For over a week our country has been burning. Everyone has suffered from thousands of missiles, riots, shocking acts of violence, terrorism, and vandalism from all sides, death and wounding. The intensity of what has been unleashed in the past eleven days is only matched by its senselessness.

As word spread on social and traditional media about our silent rally, co-organized with Tag Meir and other progressive movements, we were touched by the tremendous support received from partners worldwide, as we continue to be touched by yours.

We, members of Women Wage Peace, Jewish and Arab, religious and secular, chose to stand silently together in answer to the shrill voices of racism and revenge recently emboldened by political leaders. In our thunderous silence we shared our message:

there are no winners in these endless cycles of armed conflict

WWP will continue proposing solid solutions based on diplomacy, research, and best practices from other persistent conflicts

as women who cannot help but care deeply about a viable future for all the region’s people, we will continue to resist schemes that lack equality and comprehensive security at their foundations

With the onset of the ceasefire, we will keep demanding a political agreement with the Palestinian, we will continue to bring a vision of peace. Yes it is possible!

Know that we are as determined as ever to be heard and heeded. That we are not stopping until a political agreement is in place.

Iמ peace,

Dr. Yael Braudo-Bahat
