The S&P 500 slipped 0.08% this week to close at 7,650.50. The Nasdaq gained 0.72% to 26,522.54, the Dow gave up 1.69% to 51,682.64, and the Russell 2000 fell 1.50% to 2,860.40. A mixed week at the index level, large caps roughly flat to higher, small caps and the Dow lower.
I Called Meta on Israeli TV. Since Then It's Up Nearly 15%
I want to share something in my own words this week. On September 9 I was on Channel 10, Israel's business channel, and I said Meta was among our AI algorithm's top stock picks. Since that day's close of $653.17, Meta has climbed to $748.31, up 14.6%.
I bring this up not to take a victory lap on one stock, but because it is the same process behind every package in this newsletter. The algorithm flagged Meta before I said a word about it on air. I was reporting what the model already knew, not the other way around. You can watch the segment yourself here.
I Know First Beat the S&P 500 and Every Major Hedge Fund in August
Our Combined Long/Short Strategy returned 5.04% in August, 2.42 points ahead of the S&P 500's 2.62%, and ahead of every major multi-strategy hedge fund we track, including ExodusPoint, Citadel Wellington, Millennium and Balyasny. Year to date through August we are up 24.66% against 12.28% for the S&P 500, a 12.38 point lead. Since inception in January 2020 the strategy has returned 807.61% against the index's 134.81%.
One Ticker, Two Packages, One Year
Our SOXX Stocks package and our Quantitative Trading package both returned up to 501.46% over the year, both led by the same name, MU (Micron Technology). Two different algorithmic methods, the same top pick.
Our Computer Stocks signals told a similar story over the same year: 106.01% for the top 20, a 61.61 point premium over the S&P 500, with a 92% hit ratio at the one-year horizon.
Bar lengths are drawn on a square-root scale so the shorter horizons remain readable alongside the 1-year figure.
Software and semiconductors carried the board this week, with MU showing up at the top of the list twice. In a mixed week for the indices, the algorithm stayed concentrated where the signal was strongest.
